More Images From Episode #2.2 "Brave New World!"
The CW has released more new images from the second episode of The Vampire Diaries Season 2.
Every year on KryptonSite, we have the annual KryptonSite Awards, honoring the best and worst of any given season of the show.
To give us something to do as we all anxiously await Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries, we've decided to do a much smaller scale VampireSite Awards - honoring the best and worst of Vampire Diaries Season 1.
We'll do this year with only a few categories - Best Actor, Best Actress, Favorite Writer, Favorite Director, Best Episode, Worst Episode, Best Guest Star, and Best Cliffhanger. If the response is good, this could be the start of what may become an annual tradition here at VampireSite.
Unfortunately, we need some help with the final category, Best Cliffhanger, which is why it's not up yet. I want to be sure nothing is left out, and fear that I'll put this up and then not have anything.
So, if you could PLEASE visit our forum thread and leave some ideas... and I'll get the final category posted ASAP so all of the results will be posted before the show's September 9 season premiere. In the meantime, while you send in more nominees, Best Guest Star voting will still be up.
As with the KryptonSite Awards, votes are limited to one vote per category per IP. Please spread the word about the Awards, though, so we can have the most possible participation!

The cast and creators of The Vampire Diaries appeared on Saturday night at the 27th Annual Paley Festival sponsored by the Paley Center for Media.
In addition to a cast and crew Q & A, there was a screening of the March 25 episode, "A Few Good Men," which is one of the best episodes yet.
Sadly, our seats were kind of... far. ("Lower Balcony" really translates to "Upper Balcony, the Lower Balcony is the Mezzanine.") That didn't stop Mark Anthony J. Nazal from taking a gallery of photos from afar, which you can find in our VampireSite.net gallery.
UPDATE: The network has now released their official description of the episode which can be found here.

Missed The Vampire Diaries? See It On iTunes or Amazon Unbox For Free!
Did you miss The Vampire Diaries pilot in one of The CW's three airings?
No worries!
They have made the pilot episode available (at least temporarily) on both iTunes and Amazon Unbox. From there you can also subscribe to the series (for a fee).
Here are the necessary places to find the episode:
Caleb S. Garcia reviews the pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries and does some analysis comparing it to some of those other big vampire franchises as well as other series from The CW stable.
The CW's Friday night encore of The Vampire Diaries scored with a little over 2 million viewers... quite impressive considering the network's all-new premiere of Melrose Place on Tuesday ended up with only 2.27 million.
Perhaps the network should take this as a hint that it would be a good idea to run TVD encores on Friday on a regular basis. It would certainly pair well with Smallville as a lead-in, and it'd be a lot nicer match than the Top Model repeats the CW has planned.
On the subject of repeats - if you missed The Vampire Diaries the first two times, The CW is airing it yet again on Sunday night, Sept. 13. And remember you can talk about the episode on our forum!

So What Did You Think Of The Vampire Diaries Premiere?
It was the moment some have been waiting 15 years for... tonight, September 10, at 8PM, the CW aired the first episode of the television series The Vampire Diaries. If you saw it, what did you think?
For those of you who may be new to this website and unfamiliar with the show, here's how The CW describes it:
Four months after the tragic car accident that killed their parents, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”) and her 15-year-old brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, “Everwood”), are still adjusting to their new reality. Elena has always been the star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends, but now she finds herself struggling to hide her grief from the world.
Elena and Jeremy are now living with their cool-but-overwhelmed Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning, “Smallville”), who is doing her best to be a surrogate parent. Elena manages to find some comfort with her familiar social circle – best friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham, “17 Again”), frenemy Caroline (Candice Accola, “Juno”), and former boyfriend Matt (Zach Roerig, “Friday Night Lights”), but Jeremy is on a more dangerous path, hanging out with the stoners and using drugs to hide his pain. Jeremy is also trying to figure out why Matt’s sister, Vicki (Kayla Ewell, “The Bold and The Beautiful“), is suddenly rejecting him and hanging out with Jeremy’s rival, Tyler (Michael Trevino, “Cane”).
As the school year begins at Mystic Falls High, Elena and her friends are fascinated by a handsome and mysterious new student, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley, “Fallen”). Stefan and Elena are immediately drawn to one another, although Elena is puzzled by Stefan’s increasingly bizarre behavior when he appears suddenly at the cemetery where her parents are buried. What she doesn’t realize is that Stefan is hiding a dark, deadly secret of his own – the fact that he’s a vampire. At a bonfire party the next night, Elena and Stefan are just getting to know each other when chaos erupts after Vicki is attacked and left bleeding from a savage bite to the neck.
Fearing that he knows who is responsible for the attack, Stefan returns home and finds his older brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder, “Lost”), whom he hasn’t seen for 15 years. Damon is also a vampire, and the two brothers have a long and bitter history.
Damon ridicules Stefan for rejecting their legacy of violence and brutality, but he understands his brother’s obsession with Elena, since she looks exactly like a woman Stefan loved more than a century ago; a woman that Damon tried to make his own. Now these two vampire brothers – one good, one evil – are at war for Elena’s soul and for the souls of her friends, family and all the residents of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
Based on the series of books by L. J. Smith, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is from Alloy Entertainment and Bonanza Productions Inc in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Kevin Williamson
(“Scream,” “Dawson’s Creek”), Julie Plec (“Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”), Leslie Morgenstein (“Gossip Girl,” “Private”) and Bob Levy (“Gossip Girl,” “Privileged”). Marcos Siega (“Dexter”) directed the pilot.
The CW also created biographies of each of the show's actors, for those curious:
